History
This structure was built some time after 1900. Like most Main Street buildings, the main floor served as a business while the upper level was an apartment.

Architectural Details
The facade dramatically changed between the 1950s, when the site was used primarily as a Lunch counter, and the 1980s, when it served as a hair salon.

1924 Sanborn Map
The earlier 1911 Sanborn Fire Map shows an empty lot at this site, but by 1924, a home and a gas station (part of which was in the adjoining lot) were at this location.

c. 1911-1924: building established (Sanborn Fire Maps [see above])
1924: The Sanborn Fire Map of Sykesville shows a home and a service station at this site.
c. 1950s: Diamond Lunch Room, operated by William and Louise Brandenburg
1978-c.2012: Hair N'Place Salon, managed by Nikki Swann, operates from this location. (Carroll County Times 29 March, 1979, p.3, Carroll County Times, 11 March 1980. p14, "Sykesville Past and Present," Greenberg, 2012, p. 47)
2019-present (2025): Pin IT Up Acupuncture operates out of the Main Street level of this building.
