The structure at 7444 Springfield Avenue is a non-contributing building within Sykesville's Historic District.

History

For thirty-three years, this site served as the Home Furniture Company, under the ownership of Herman and Aaron Reznick. In 1938, elsewhere in Sykesville, the pair had originally opened a grocery store, expanding to furniture items during WWII. In 1948, the furniture business moved to this site and continued to operate until 1981.

Confirmed Use as of November 18, 2025:

1948-1981: Herman and Aaron Reznick move their business from elsewhere in Sykesville to this address as a furniture store. The business closed due to the declining health of the proprietors ("Store Owners to Close Shop After 33 Years." Carroll County Times, Westminster, MD, 11 June 1981, p.1)

2025: This site is currently empty and for rent. (note: the signage shown for "Town Artisans Gallery" was a business which was planned before the COVID-19 pandemic and never opened).
