7543 Main Street
Photograph of this address seen in 1983.
History
This structure, featuring the title "Sykesville Vol. Fire Co." across the front was constructed in 1949 as a new, larger facility for Sykesville's fire department. A major fire heavily damaged the engine room in February of 1969, also destroying two firetrucks inside. The building was restored with some minor changes after that time. The site served as a fire station until 1983 when the department moved to its present-day site on Route 32.
The building was renovated into office space in 1984 and has served a variety of businesses since that time.

Architectural Details
This structure is a two-story, formstone-faced building. It was designed by Edward Grimes with engine space on the first floor and community meeting space on the second floor.
In 1984, the building is sold to Bruce Greenburg, who remodeled the building into office space. The overhead door originally intended for engine access was removed in 1996 and was replaced by two windows and doors.
Awaiting updates from the SHDC.
